I was greatly helped in my sketching recently when I went to a Sketching On Location Workshop taught by Richard Scott this summer. Previously I had only done pencil sketches but he gave some very simple but effective tips on how to sketch with pen and watercolors. Since then I’ve done all of my sketches with pen. I am having a lot of fun with my new skills! I did this sketch of a statue during the class.

This blog is about my journey as a botanical artist--what I am learning, what inspires me and what I am currently drawing or painting. My desire is to continually hone my skills to better express my wonder and gratitude for the beauty of the creation around me in the Pacific Northwest (USA).
I would love to hear from you...
