Jimmy Nardello Sweet Peppers
Capsicum 'Jimmy Nardello'
watercolor
When I saw Jimmy Nardello peppers at our local farmers’ market I was struck by their vibrant colors and their beautiful shapes, almost like calligraphy strokes. I bought over a dozen peppers, chose some to paint and stir-fried the rest. They were the most flavorful and tender peppers I have ever eaten! -

Deadon Cabbage
Brassica ‘Deadon’
Watercolor
9.5” x 11”
When I saw this colorful, ruffled cabbage at the farmer’s market, I knew I had to paint it. I bought an extra to cook in a stir fry, and it tasted as good as it looked!

Tiger Lily
Lilium lancifolium var splendens
watercolor
I especially liked the sense of movement in this blossom whose petals had partly unfurled, nearing the end of its peak bloom period. It reminded me of a dancer running from the stage after her act. Her sisters have already dropped their petals. -
