My First SketchCrawl

Today I went to the 24th World Wide SketchCrawl–my first time participating in this event. This is an opportunity for sketchers to get together and do their thing in cities all around the world. The Portland group met at the Japanese Garden. I felt inspired by the enthusiasm of the other sketchers I met today, and am already looking forward to the next SketchCrawl. I got there after everyone else had started, and they had already spread out to sketch in various spots around the garden. Someone in the group identified me by my sketch pad and clued me in on when we were going to meet to talk about and show each other our sketches. I was happy to have my friend and fellow designer, Alyse, along to sketch with the group too. The garden was very crowded when I got there but I found a fairly quiet spot and settled in to sketch. Someone said the garden doesn’t allow paints so I confined my drawings to ink pen this time.
