I’ve been wanting to experiment with shades of green and with lighting effects, so Christmas decorations seemed the perfect subject. I bought this wreath because of its nice array of colors and textures–it has Noble Fir, Western Red Cedar and Juniper branches.
Every year I look forward to putting up our Christmas tree because of the festive ambiance it creates in our living room. My all-time favorite Christmas tree is Grand Fir, not only because of its wonderful fragrance, but because of the lovely lacy effect of the lights shining on the silvery undersides of the leaves. I tried to capture the effect of light in this watercolor.

This blog is about my journey as a botanical artist--what I am learning, what inspires me and what I am currently drawing or painting. My desire is to continually hone my skills to better express my wonder and gratitude for the beauty of the creation around me in the Pacific Northwest (USA).
The wreath painting is really, really lovely!
