Helleborus

We had a fabulous sunny day today, and I met this little fellow on my walk around the neighborhood.  He lives in a raised bed so I didn’t have to lay on the ground to see his pretty face, thank heavens!  I sat on the retaining wall and did a quick sketch.  I added the color at home from a photo I took, trying to work quickly and letting the water colors have some space to do their own thing (I tend to micromanage them, which they don’t like).  Btw, the magenta/purple color inside the flower really was that intense!

  10. Thank you for your comments. Spring flowers are always so welcome, and the colors seem especially intense when everything else is so drab.

  11. You do an amazing job capturing the light, color, and weight of the flower. Very, very lovely.
