EDiM View From a Window and Leaves

This dormer window looks out into the canopy of the Hawthorne street trees in front of our house.  Hawthornes would not be my tree of choice because of their messy berries but they do attract a lot of birds and squirrels, so we have a ready source of entertainment in autumn and winter.  Apparently, Hawthornes were popular street trees in the 20’s and 30’s when our neighborhood was built.

I used my new vintage fountain pen, a brush and ink for this, with watercolors for the leaves.  I am finding the fountain pen difficult to use, but am not sure if it is the pen or the type of ink I have, or user error.  Most likely its the latter!  The ink is made by J. Herbin for fountain pens, and is a rich brown color, Lie de The.  The ink was fun to paint with, and created interesting undertones as it dried.
