I am very excited about the Urban Sketchers Symposium that starts tomorrow here in Portland. In an effort to get “warmed up” I did this sketch of a street scene in Rome from a photo I took last summer. I am hoping to improve my line quality and get looser with my sketches through what I learn from the symposium. I’ll keep you posted!

This blog is about my journey as a botanical artist--what I am learning, what inspires me and what I am currently drawing or painting. My desire is to continually hone my skills to better express my wonder and gratitude for the beauty of the creation around me in the Pacific Northwest (USA).
This is great. I love the way you’ve left the people in the foreground without much detail – it draws the eye upwards to the buildings.
Have a great time at the symposium you lucky bunny 🙂
Great warm up – looking forward to your Symposium sketches. I really wish I were there !!!!
I think street scenes are really hard to draw. You did a really nice job with this one! nancy
Wonderful warm-up!! Take good notes! I’ll be wanting to know EVERYTHING!!
Gorgeous sketch! I can’t wait to see more =)
