This is the second page of a sketchbook I am making to give to my new little granddaughter when she gets older. It tells the story of her first couple of years from my perspective. (The first page is here.) I remember how amazing it was to see her for the first time via ultrasound. This is her in the second trimester.
For this project, I am using one of the sketchbooks I made. What a luxury to have such sturdy paper (Fabriano Artistico 140 lb.) to work on! I think I am getting addicted to both using and making my own sketchbooks. I bought some more paper and cover materials yesterday, and am looking forward to making some more books soon!

This blog is about my journey as a botanical artist--what I am learning, what inspires me and what I am currently drawing or painting. My desire is to continually hone my skills to better express my wonder and gratitude for the beauty of the creation around me in the Pacific Northwest (USA).
What an absolutely fabulous idea and precious gift for your granddaughter!! And I love Fabriano Artistico 140 lb, too. Great paper 🙂

What an original idea…I thought it was the actual scan at first. Lovely words too.
Thank you Carol and Cathy. I appreciate your comments a lot!
Hi Janene, Oh, this will be treasured! I like the first entry too! This sounds like a fun project. What better way to get the creative juices going?!
What a sweet idea!Hugs to the baby.
Thanks, Peggy and Sandra!
Sweet! She will treasure this book, as will her mother!
That ultrasound looks less medical and so human. What a great idea!
