Botanical Art by Northwest Artist
I just started a 27-month course with the Society of Botanical Artists, and the first assignment was to make a simple line drawing of a flower, with the stem included. I used part of the line drawing as a basis for this little watercolor I did on my daughter-in-law’s birthday card. I’ll be posting more about the course soon.
This blog is about my journey as a botanical artist--what I am learning, what inspires me and what I am currently drawing or painting. My desire is to continually hone my skills to better express my wonder and gratitude for the beauty of the creation around me in the Pacific Northwest (USA).

27 months???? Wow that’s a big commitment. I hope you enjoy it. I love this first painting you’ve done inspired by the course.
Sue, Thanks! I’ve barely begun the course, so we’ve yet to see if I can hang in for the long haul, but my hopes are high at this point. I do feel that I have learned a lot already.

It’s gorgeous, I love the presentation and adore the colors =) I could see this on napkins, table clothes and all kinds of prints.
