I spent the evening at The Canvas, an art bar in NW Portland, with my sketching buddies yesterday. The bar provides a clothed model for about 2 and a half hours, in several timed poses. We had a great time sketching, sipping wine, and snacking. This is the best of my timed sketches–as for the rest–let’s just say that I need practice.

This blog is about my journey as a botanical artist--what I am learning, what inspires me and what I am currently drawing or painting. My desire is to continually hone my skills to better express my wonder and gratitude for the beauty of the creation around me in the Pacific Northwest (USA).
It’s good Janene.
When I go to the class near my parents, I usually get told off if I do a drawing like this… She says it’s about form not portraiture.
However, your results show it’s about what we want to focus on. Nicely done.
These are really nice! I especially like the sepia in the top sketch. Lovely sketches!
Thanks Sue and Ann. I am interested in (and need to work on) both form and portraiture, so I agree with Sue, its about what we want to focus on at that moment.
Really nice. What a unique setting for drawing. You should be really pleased.
Great sketches!
