Union Station

I got out my 135 year old sketchbook (it used to be an autograph book) for this one. My goal is to dedicate the book to sketches of historic places in Portland. The paper is slightly yellowed and not at all absorbent so sketches turn out very differently. I think it gives the sketches an antique look.

Don’t tell anyone but the tower is not in scale in this. I am determined to try again…as soon as the weather warms up a bit! I was dressed warmly but still got really chilled sitting on a lamppost base to sketch for almost an hour. It helped that I had my new lightweight foam pad to sit on though.

  2. I really love that antique look of the painting, that must be very interesting paper to work on (I love challenges like that). Its a very nice painting.

Thank you for your comment and visiting in my blog, Im looking forward to see what you will paint next in your book.

  3. Thanks for your comments, Debra, and “.”! Now that spring is on its way, I hope I can get out more often to add sketches to the book.

  4. great linear perspective on the building, Janene! So nice to visit your blog again and see what you’ve been up to!

  5. it doesn’te matter if the scale is not right, the most important thing is the final result, in my opinion of course, and i think it’s just fine 😀 good atmosphere !
