Stippling is a time consuming technique for shading but strangely enough, I find that there is something soothing about making all of those tiny dots! I’ve been practicing some of the techniques I have learned while taking the Society of Botanical Artists course so that is why I am stippling once again, which was part of the first assignment.

This blog is about my journey as a botanical artist--what I am learning, what inspires me and what I am currently drawing or painting. My desire is to continually hone my skills to better express my wonder and gratitude for the beauty of the creation around me in the Pacific Northwest (USA).
Aha! So it’s not just me then. A good session of stippling is somewhat relaxing for me too. Lovely little sketches Janene.
Glad I am not the only one with such strange proclivities!
Your artwork amazes me Janene. You are so talented!
Thank you very much, Heather!
These look lovely. Great results!
Last time I stippled was as a demo for a course I gave about 20 yrs ago. Can’t stand it, but love the results you can get.
Sue, Ha! Guess it is not for everyone, but I do love your quick sketches (which I am not so good at)!
