Garry Oak Update

I wrote in August about my delight in finally finding tiny baby acorns nestled in the low branches of a native oak tree that grows near my house. Rough drawing and value study

I developed a rough drawing in order to work on the composition, then did some shading to see if it would be balanced. Next came color matching while the leaves were still fresh. I had heard how difficult the surface was to paint on but was determined to give it a try. Holding my breath, I cautiously raised the scissors to the hide and slowly squeezed the plastic handles together, and…

  1. Janene, your “rough sketch” is beautiful. I can’t wait to see how it progresses into a painting on the Vellum hide. It is so impressive how careful and studious you are about your planning. It shows in your gorgeous work.

  2. Good day! This post could not be written any better! Reading this post reminds
me of my good old room mate! He always kept chatting about
this. I will forward this post to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read.
    Thank yyou for sharing!
